Just 'cos you're old you think you're wise

NOTE: This is an archive post from LiveJournal which has been logged here for posterity.

OK, I'm terrible at updating, I'm sorry.

No, actually, I'm not. My personal journal (a strange thing these days - it's written on actual paper with a real pen) has a large number of entries. In my absence from online blogging I've started reassessing myself, and I'm discovering more and more every day that I am fucked up.

I have body issues and I'm not confident. My total belief that I failed everything this semester led me to come home and mainline vodka (as well as anything else I could get my hands on) half way through the exam period. As it turns out I've passed at least 3 of the 4 subjects and all that worry (not to mention the substantial hangover) were for nothing.

I've stopped smoking. Today is Day 16. Day 17 commences in 19 minutes. The big urges are gone, but occasionally I really want one. I can be around smokers but I find myself lecturing them which is entirely a product of trying to convince myself that I don't want and/or need one. The not smoking thing means that I'm a little more anti-social then usual as I tend to hide in my room watching DVDs, TV or reading.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that I like being single.

Yeah, the lack of sex is a bit horrible, but honestly, I've got enough sex toys to deal with that.

I like the independance of being single. I'm a little nutty and well equipt for keeping myself company so the whole companionship thing isn't a big deal - I have friends and I have family and I have myself. I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that unless someone really special comes along; someone who respects me and my boundaries (and my independance - I love that more then any man or woman I'm afraid) that I'm just going to remain single for the rest of my life, and I'm OK with that. I'm not sure my mother will be (I think she's looking forward to the grandkids that probably won't be arriving through me) but I am.

I've been listening alot to Lily Allen. She rocks. She has some very cheeky lyrics but I've been feeling quite feminist and anti-boys lately so she's pretty much the perfect accompaniment. I'm looking foward to the Big Day Out - I will definately be grooving out to her that day.

Well I'm going to go, no doubt I'll be up for a few hours yet with my crappy November-December insomnia but unfortunately the computer room will be closing soon

Well, well, well

First of all, I'd like to say that the friends, family and people involved in the US tragedy are very much in my heart, thoughts and prayers.

Secondly, I'd like to say I'm rather inebriated at this point in time.

Flatmates had their first real gig tonight, thanks to anyone who might read this that turned up.

It was at Indigo, and went off, I, knew all the words and was 'air-drumming' but considering they practice in my living room that's expected.

Personally, I'm going to advertise any further gigs this band have around Wellington (& N.Z) and I'd like to see anyone who can. Crazywld's the one who looks like he's s'posed to be in ballet shoes.

And I'm the trashed one air drumming thruout and giving hugs after the concert.

Good night guys!! Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

If you want to go out

Generosity. It's a great part of human nature, and it's the coolest thing when it pops out of nowhere when you least expect it.

I was lying in bed this afternoon, because I had very little sleep last night, and my phone starts ringing. I answer it to find it's a lady who's been staying at the hostel for the last week. I had mentioned at some point my birthday to her, and she had bought me a present.

It's not big, or expensive, but it's certainly beautiful, and it was such a gesture, that of a birthday present from someone I barely know, that makes it one of the best presents I could receive.

It's a coffee mug, gold trim, lots of little bits... It's got an Egyptian picture on the front and the words "Seti Between Horse and Osiris" if anyone can tell me what this means, I'd be very grateful :)

On another completely different note, anyone else heard the new Limp Bizkit song Rollin'? It's on the new CD due out mid-October... I gotta admit, I quite like it, there's heaps of lines from previous songs, and looks like it's more like Significant Other then 3 Dollar Bill, which is good, 'cos IMO, Significant Other is much better then 3 Dollar Bill.

Old Skool Shit

Well, while at home, I figured I should use the much better computer then my own to download and play a large selection of my old skool favourites.

Vanilla Ice, Kriss Kross, New Kids On The Block.....

Very Funny. The Kriss Kross song, 'Jump' inspired my friends and I to embark on as running man contest... very funny. New Kids on the Block can hit some very impossible notes for guys, kinda makes me wonder.... check out 'Step by Step' to see what I mean. And, of course, can ANYONE forget Vanilla Ice, good old Rob Van Winkle, Eminem's Predecessor....

Just got back from a 3 day Youth Group camp for which I was cooking. Very good, many actually enjoyed the food, it's not many camps that people come back for thirds.

Pranks were pulled; boxers hitched up a flag pole, the entire inventory of mattresses from the female dorm moved to the camp director's room....

We'll get our revenge come BOB Camp (happens after skool gets out in December).

Best bit of camp: Sneaking out at 3am with 3 other mates to mission down to the lake for a ciggy, and getting caught by the policeman-speaker.

Worst bit of camp: The bitch caretaker who came in, 5 minutes before we were due to leave to complain about everything, and touch my knives so many times I was ready to deck her.

She is Not Scared to Die

Sitting in my room, listening to my favourite band really loud, I was surprised I actually heard the knock on my door.... the chick across the hall, wanting me to turn it down.

It's 5:30...... What The Fuck?!?

I'm used to her coming over at 9:30 asking me to turn it down, standing there in her check flannellette pajamas.. and I oblige, even though noise curfew isn't until 10:30.

But it's FRIDAY

I can't go out drinking, due to an error in judgement last week. So I'm planning a quiet one, just me, a packet of ciggys, the TV, my computer and numerous assignments, due in this week before the semester break.

So I'd like my Kittie rather loud thank you.

She didn't complain last night at 8:00 when her neighbour was playing ABBA at the highest setting, singing higher then the music.

Maybe it's cos I have "bad" taste in music....
